So, are you standing on your head in hopes of pleasing others? How many people do you bend over backwards for?

I remember when I first became a Massage Therapist I was so nervous that I wouldn’t get any clients so I bent over backwards for each client that came to me. I would always ask…do you need me to go deeper? Lighter? Faster? Slower? I was so concerned about what they thought of me as a therapist, that I lost my connection with myself while giving the massage. I didn’t actually stand on my head, but I would have to totally strain to get to those really big guys’ muscles.

I thought if I got really good at pleasing others, I’d have lots of clients and they would think I was a great Massage Therapist. Luckily a wise teacher told me to just be myself and trust that the clients that like my massage will come to me.

Essentially, I would attract clients that liked the massage I gave.

The thing that has made my massage business so successful is increasing my value. I am always taking more classes and expanding my knowledge. Also, I am constantly doing personal development work which totally comes through in the confidence in my hands and heart during my massage.

And now those strong guys say, “Wow, you’re stronger than you look!” (The secret is in the energy behind it!)

In your business, what position do you find yourself contorting into in hopes of pleasing others? Are you trying to market to EVERYONE on the internet? Are you trying to please all of your twitter followers?

What about in your family? Who do you bend over backwards for… that you know is not healthy for either one of you?

I challenge you to see where you may be bending over backwards. What do you need to do to reclaim your center? Make your commitment to the group by leaving a comment below…

Great post Sue. I have found in my own business … and in dealing with people in general, that if you come from a place of strength and self confidence, people sense that and are then attracted more to that strength and confidence than they are to someone who ultimately is trying to just to please or cater to them. I love your video too, just how long can you do that? 🙂
