Hey there! Welcome Back, I appreciate you being here... make sure you subscribe to my free 7 day Manifesting Course if you haven't already!
With the New Year upon us many of us are making our resolutions and intentions.
“I want to lose 10 pounds.”
“I want to find my soul mate.”
“I want to make lots of money this year.”
Since the universe is so precise on what it gives back to us, when we say, “I want…”, it will give us just that…a continued state of wanting.
You see, wanting communicates to you and the universe that you do not have something. It says that you are in a state of not having it but wishing you did. It’s a perpetual state. And in fact, you can never get what you want, while you are just wanting it.
But how come Billy Bob manifested that million dollars he wanted?
Well, Mr. Bob switched from a state of wanting to another state. Perhaps a state of getting.
Let’s look at romance, my favorite topic! I’ve been wanting to meet someone. I just moved to a new town and have been thinking it would be great to enjoy these wonderful restaurants here with a date. Many of my friends are probably sick and tired of me saying that I want to go on dates!
Well, that’s what I’ve been getting…more of wanting to go on dates!
So, I decided to change my state of wanting into a state of doing. I first created a vision board which got me into the feeling place of desiring a life with a partner. Then I felt inspired to take action and joined Match.com! I figured, what the heck, it could be fun!
Dang the floodgates have opened and I’m actually going on dates! I’m now in a state of having. (Which of course is bringing about more contrast which will help me better define what I’m wanting, which I’ll switch to desiring, which will lead to doing, which will lead to having, which will lead to more contrast, which will lead to wanting, which I’ll switch to desiring, which will lead to doing, which will lead to having…you get the point of how we evolve!)
In this example it may look like I have gotten what I’d originally wanted, but it’s actually that I’ve gotten what I set out to getting.
Check out some definitions of want: “To be without; lack. To be destitute or needy. A defect of character; a fault. To be absent, to be deficient or lacking; to fail; not to be sufficient; to fall or come short; to lack.”
YUCK!
Now look at the word desire: “To express a wish for request. The natural longing that is excited by the enjoyment or the thought of any good, and impels to action or effort its continuance or possession; an eager wish to obtain or enjoy.”
I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed over and over again that when I make that subtle shift from wanting to desiring, things start showing up. I’ll feel inspired to call this person, Google this website, buy that training, join this company…
So, what have you been wanting for a long time now? Imagine consciously switching that wanting into a state of desiring. Notice the shift in your energy. I encourage you to play with this for a while and pay attention to what shows up.
Let us know what you think of all this, what you’re ready to move from wanting to having, and what you’ve seen works for you by leaving a comment below.
Thanks so much!
