Social Media and Picking Up Chicks...Same Rules Apply

Hey there! Welcome Back, I appreciate you being here... make sure you subscribe to my free 7 day Manifesting Course if you haven't already!

Yesterday I was having a quick bite to eat in the cafe section of the grocery store. Since I was eating solo, I was checking out the room. I caught a man’s eyes, so I smiled at him.

That’s what I do, I smile at people.

I went on eating my yummy chicken.

When I got up to leave, guess who happened to be walking by at the same time…

Yes, that man I smiled at.

He came up to me and instantly pulled out his cell phone as he asked if I had a boyfriend.

Then he proceeded to ask for my number and practically begged me to go out with him.

I couldn’t help but think about everything I’m learning in my online social media network marketing classes.

You see, in this social media training, I’ve learned that there is a thing called ethics and I wanted to share with you a few social media tips that may even cross over into the “picking up chicks” scene.

First off, what is social media? If you’ve been tweeting, using friendfeed, facebook, youtube videos, myspace, etc…then you’ve been doing it.

So,
What is Social Media Rule Number One?
You don’t spam.

Perhaps I should be flattered that I still have the touch…but I felt like he was spamming me.

What is Social Media Rule Number Two?
Attraction marketing is all about creating value in yourself so people will be attracted to you.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not really attracted to the pushy needy type.

Maybe confident and sexy… But that’s another post!

What is Social Media Rule Number Three?
Build relationships.

What ever happened to, “Hi, I’m Jack, how was your chicken? Isn’t this the most beautiful grocery store…”

So, if you’re new to social media, or picking up women, you may want to follow these basic rules.

To sum it up…

  • Spamming is a no-no
  • Add Value to yourself and become someone people are attracted to.
  • Build Relationships.

And, you just may get someone’s phone number!

  • Sue,
I absolutely loved this post! It reminds me of a recent incident involving my 15 year old son. He was away at camp and met a very attractive girl there who was being hit on by the rest of the guys but wasn't responding to any of them. When he asked her why she liked him she responded "Because you asked me about who I was, about my family, and what I liked to do".

This is a very powerful lesson to be applied to Social Media. No one know or cares about you until they know that you care about them. What type of relationship are you trying to form? Is it a self-serving one? Or are you giving of yourself with no expectation in return.

I really love your blog and look forward to getting to know you better Sue.

    To Our Success,

    John
  • Sue, points well taken. Whatever happened to respect and building relationships? The mentality these days seems to be about Take, Take, Take. Let's change that selfish mentality one post at a time and bring back the consideration of Give, Give, Give.

  • Good analogy Sue! Whatever happened to good manners and etiquette? Glad to see you're no pushover!
