Springtime is a great time to clean things out.  This includes our insides… so, this year I’ve decided to do the Master Cleanse.

This 10 day cleanse will detoxify the body’s tissues, break down old wastes to be eliminated, and clean the receptor sites of cells.  Oftentimes when we eat processed foods, meats and acid forming foods we create a breeding ground for dis-ease causing wastes that love to hang out in our colon.

I like to imagine that as I drop old wastes down the toilet I am also dropping any old thoughts or beliefs that no longer serve me as well.

The Master Cleanse

The Internal Salt Water Bath

The Lemonade

If you want to join me, here’s what you’ll need…

Gather Ingredients for the Master Cleanse:

60-80 Organic Lemons (don’t buy all of these at once, maybe about 10 a day)

2 Quarts Grade B or Extra Dark Grade A Maple Syrup

1/2 Cup Sea Salt

10 Gallons of good water

2 Ounces of Cayenne Pepper

Herbal Laxative (I like Smooth Move Chocolate Tea!)

A good guide book, I have The Complete Master Cleanse, by Tom Woloshyn

The Night Before:

The night prior to starting the Master Cleanse take an Herbal Laxative.  I drank the Smooth Move Tea.  Be sure to follow directions on the box.

Days 1-10 (or up to 40 days if you desire):

Drink an Internal Salt Water Bath every morning.

2 Teaspoons Sea Salt

1 Quart warm water

This mixture is the same salinity as your blood, so when you drink it, it is not absorbed into your blood stream.  It will pass into the colon and you’ll poop it out!  This is to get things flushed out for the lemonade to work its magic.

It will take about 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours to take effect after drinking this.  And the final elimination of the salt water will be about 1 hour after your first elimination.  So, if you go to work, be sure to give yourself a good 2 hours in the morning to finish this process, or wait until after work when you’re home.

Or you could just take a laxative.  Choose 1 or the other, not both.  Laxatives could cause cramping since it’s really getting things churned up.

Be sure to do the salt water or laxative every day.  You should be pooping at least 3-4 times a day.

The Lemonade Drink (6-12 glasses a day)

2 Tablespoons freshly squeezed organic lemon juice (about 1/2 of a lemon)

2 Tablespoons of maple syrup (Grade B)

1/10-1/8 teaspoon of cayenne powder

8 ounces of good water.

Always drink your lemonade fresh, within 10 minutes of preparing it.

In the morning wait until your first elimination after the salt water rinse to begin drinking the lemonade.  If you’re taking the laxative, wait until about an hour after you take that.  Then drink the lemonade whenever you feel hungry.

You should drink 6-12 glasses of the lemonade mixture every day.

You can also drink water and herbal tea throughout the day, just be sure it’s not more than the lemonade drink.

The Master Cleanse involves eating no solid food. Instead, you drink a mixture of lemon juice, Grade B/Medium maple syrup, water and Cayenne pepper(aka lemonade)

Google Master Cleanse and get the book before you try it. I've heard only positive things about it and am considering it myself.

    Hi Sue!
I actually did this cleanse a few weeks ago. Went pretty well, but like you I think I was pretty healthy before I began. It wasn't too hard, but had some strong cravings once in a while. I might do it again some time :o)
Thank You for posting, great article.
    Espen
