In all of my Love Coaching sessions, I use the Wheel of Life exercise for clients to assess their overall satisfaction in life.  I believe the path to finding true love is a holistic one.  It includes our whole self.  The Wheel of Life tool offers a nice visualization and starting point for where we want to focus our energies. You may have done this before, but I encourage you to do it again, since it often changes.  I like to do it about once a year to get a good read on my life.

For those of you who have never done this exercise, the wheel contains eight sections that, together, represent one way of describing a whole life. It is a visual way to measure your level of satisfaction in these areas. Taking the center of the wheel as 0 and the outer edge as an ideal 10, rank your level of satisfaction with each life area by drawing a straight or curved line to create a new outer edge. The new perimeter represents your Wheel of Life.

Often in life our wheel is not balanced. We may be feeling great when it comes to our career, but our health may be suffering. I imagine if you’re here reading this because you’re searching for true love, your significant other/romance category may be closer to a 1 than a 10.

Take note of any other areas in your life that are less than 7. This is very telling of why…if you are here because you want to find true love…you have not met your partner yet. Until you are well balanced and fully satisfied in your life, your perfect match will most likely not be able to find you.

What may happen instead is that you will attract a partner who is also feeling unsatisfied in parts of his or her life, which ends up being a recipe for disaster! You will both try to fill each other up, and then you will both end up totally depleted. Have you ever experienced that one?

If you find that some numbers on your wheel are lower than you would like them to be, here are some suggestions to get those numbers closer to a 10.

First off, make peace with where you are. Be easy on yourself. I needed to just laugh at how unbalanced my wheel of life was the first time I did it. I took the easiest category to work with first. For me that was health/fitness. I joined a gym and started paying attention to my body. That may be the hardest for you, so pick whichever one seems easiest first. Set some intentions for things that you want to do. I decided to eat healthier, exercise more, do Yoga, take walks. The purpose is to feed your soul and take time for self-growth.
